빼빼로 데이 (Pepero Day) is a popular holiday in South Korea celebrated on November 11th each year. The day is named after 빼빼로, which are long, thin cookie sticks coated in chocolate or various flavors. The date, 11/11, resembles the shape of the Pepero sticks.

On this day, people, especially young couples and friends, exchange Pepero as a way to express affection and friendship. It's similar to Valentine's Day in that it's a day for giving and receiving gifts, but the focus is specifically on Pepero snacks. Many shops and bakeries create special editions of Pepero with unique flavors or packaging for the occasion.

In addition to being called 빼빼로 데이, this day is also known as 가래떡 데이 (Rice Cake Day) and 젓가락 데이 (Chopstick Day). The term 가래떡 refers to long, cylindrical rice cakes, which are another popular snack in Korea. The similarity in shape between 빼빼로 and these rice cakes reinforces the connection to the day’s celebration.
